ABS-CBN Prepares Holy Week Programs to Inspire Filipino Viewers

POTATO ON THE GO BULLETIN (TV):

What's your plan for Holy Week?  Are you going out of town or are you staying home?  As more and more Filipinos go out of town for vacation, I believe many of us still prefer staying at home (or visit our hometown and stay with our folks).  And for the home bound peeps, they look for things to do during idle time.  Some stock DVDs while others look for things to watch on TV.  And gladly, our TV stations have felt this need and year on year, have been providing service to us by providing programs suitable for the season.  And this is what ABS-CBN has prepared again this time to inspire the Filipino viewers during the observance of this coming Holy Week.

Manila Archbishop Chito Tagle

Reflect and be inspired this Holy Week as ABS-CBN airs some of its heartwarming specials, dramas and Star Cinema movies, and best documentaries beginning on Maundy Thursday (April 25) until Good Friday (April 26).

Begin the solemn journey by catching the “Mga Kuwento Sa Lupang Pangako,” which was produced by Jesuit Communications Foundation. This special features two documentaries “Sa Mga Yapak Ni Hesus,” and “Ang Makabagong Disipilo” that were both shot in Israel.

Filipino Pilgrims in Mga Kuwento sa Lupang Pangako (Stories in the Promise Land)

“Sa Mga Yapak Ni Hesus" follows a group of Filipino pilgrims who come to experience the Holy Land, with the help of their pilgrimage master Manila Archbishop Chito Tagle. Instead of dwelling on the passion and death of a vanquished Christ, Tagle leads them to a deeper understanding of the triumph and joy of the risen Christ, and the impact on their futures. This special will be narrated by veteran broadcast journalist Cheche Lazaro. “Sa Mga Yapak Ni Hesus" airs Maundy Thursday (April 5), 12p.m.

"Ang Makabagong Disipulo" is an up-close and personal look at Fr. Luis Antonio "Chito" Tagle, the newly installed Archbishop of Manila. This documentary, hosted by ABS-CBN anchor Bernadette Sembrano-Aguinaldo, takes a deeper look into this remarkable man on a mission. It begins as Fr. Chito is about to make his first pilgrimage to the Holy Land a few weeks before his installation. It follows him on this bittersweet journey, fraught with apprehensions and anxieties, and it watches how he comes to Jesus in the very land that He was born in and died. "Ang Makabagong Disipulo" airs Good Friday (April 6), 5p.m.

ABS-CBN will also air some of Catholic Church’s significant observations this Lenten Season such as the “Lenten Recollection” on April 5, 3:30 p.m., “Celebration of the Lord’s Supper” on April 5, 1:30p.m. On Good Friday, join the country in hearing Jesus’ “7 Last Words” at 3p.m. that will be followed by the “Veneration of the Cross” at 4p.m. Also, welcome Easter with a pure heart by participating in the televised “Easter Vigil” which will air on Black Saturday at 11:30p.m. Meanwhile, among the “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episodes to be aired this Lenten season are “Krus” on April 5, 7p.m., “Tsinelas” starring late actor AJ Perez on April 6, 7p.m. and “Traysikel” on April 7, 7 p.m.

Korina Sanchez's miracle-themed episodes aired on "Rated K" will be aired on April 5 and 6 at 6p.m., and “Kwento ng Buhay Ko” episode, a finalist in New York Festival, on April 7, 6p.m.

"Krusada" and "Patrol ng Pilipino" documentaries will also be aired. Tina Monzon-Palma delivers compelling stories of people who faced and overcame adversity through faith and prayers on April 5, 10:30p.m., while Abner Mercado will show us the sad condition of elderly prisoners by introducing us to three inmates from the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW). Star Cinema will also present its inspiring flicks such as “Dubai” on April 5, 10a.m., “I’ll Be There” on April 5, 10:30p.m., “Ang Tanging Yaman,” April 6, 10a.m., “Sa’yo Lamang,” April 6, 8:30p.m., “Paano Kita Iibigin,” April 7, 10a.m., and “Till My Heartache Ends” on April 7, 8:30p.m.
