THE AVENGERS' New Official Trailer Unveiled!

POTATO ON THE GO BULLETIN (Movie):

Marvel fans' excitement will continue to heat up with the launch of the new full trailer of MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS!

Here's the new official trailer of MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS:

1st Philippine Popular Music Festival Opens Its Doors to All Filipino Songwriters

POTATO ON THE GO BULLETIN (MUSIC):

First there was Metropop.  Then Himig Handog followed.  And then there was silence (for original creations).  Covers or revivals somehow dominated the local music scene.  But don't get me wrong, the covers / revivals fill me up, stave off my hunger, but as an avid admirer of Original Pilipino Music (OPM), I crave for new compositions.

That's why I was happy to witness when Metropop was revived and Himig Handog was created several years ago.  But for reasons I am not aware of, they both went off the air.  And as they bid goodbye to their fans, reality competitions emerged.  There are competitions for aspiring singers, dancers, actors, models, bands, chefs, even children wanting to be chefs but what happened with the search for songwriters?

With a local music scene widely dominated by imported music, the Filipino songwriter has become a stranger in his own land.

But once again, am happy to hear that a new search has been launched!  Prominent names from various industries have come together to spearhead the creation of the Philippine Popular Music Festival or PhilPOP!

Understanding a Complicated Character -- MY WEEK WITH MARILYN Movie Review

POTATO ON THE GO REVIEW (Movie):

Marilyn Monroe.  She has captivated... and intrigued the world for decades.  And although she has passed away for many years already, the public's interest on her never went away.  And this exactly was what I witnessed during the press screening of My Week with Marilyn last February 24 in Greenbelt's My Cinema.

Directed by Simon Curtis and written by Adrian Hodges, the critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated My Week with Marilyn is a biographical film based on the books of Colin Clark which depicted the 1957 film The Prince and The Showgirl starring Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams) and Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh).  The film focuses on the week when Monroe spent time being escorted around Britain by film apprentice Clark (Eddie Redmayne) after her husband Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott) left the country.  The week told in the film is the missing part on Clark's diary The Prince, The Showgirl and Me when it was published.  It was however revealed several years after the initial publication.

National Geographic Channel's INSIDE MALACANANG Premieres on March 18

POTATO ON THE GO BULLETIN (TV):

It was said that Malacanang was derived from the Tagalog phrase "May Lakan Dyan" (there is a noble man there) since locals referred to it as a place of a wealthy and powerful man or "Mamalakaya" since fishermen frequented the river bend where the Palace now stands.

It was also once dubbed as a “foremost home” by Spanish governor generals. The Americans on the other hand made it a social hub for the country’s elite while the Japanese transformed it into a garrison.  Yet after all these changes, MalacaƱang Palace still stands proudly by the Pasig River today. One would wonder what is now inside the cordoned-off areas of the palace.

On March 18, at 9pm catch the premiere of the original documentary Inside MalacaƱang as National Geographic Channel (NGC) takes you to an exclusive guided tour inside the official residence of the country’s chief executive.
